Hold Me Down

Gal is a middle-aged musician who returns to Boston to perform at a memorial concert for her late drummer, who was also her closest friend. Partway through the set, she freezes when she spots a face in the crowd that she cannot shake.

The next morning brings news that the man she saw has been beaten to death behind the venue. The friend's widower has been charged in his death, yet he will not mount any defense. Gal cannot understand his silence, and as old memories come rushing back, she sets out to look into the case on her own.

Her search forces her to confront her own turbulent past, to question how accurately she remembers the years that shaped her, and to examine a music industry that profits from its musicians' self-destruction. Set against the worlds of love, music, and murder, the novel is a dark, suspenseful story.
