Holdout

As a young juror, Maya Seale is certain that Bobby Nock, a Black high school teacher, did not kill the wealthy white student he had been seen with. She persuades the rest of the jury to see it her way. A decade later, a true-crime docuseries gathers the jurors again. Maya, now a defense attorney, is the one who has to clear her name after a fellow juror is found dead in her room.

Graham Moore, who won an Academy Award for adapting The Imitation Game, also wrote the novels The Sherlockian and The Last Days of Night. Holdout is a story of a jury's verdict, the people who reached it, and what happens when the past comes back.
