Horses

A foal is born on a farm, and within a day he already weighs 100 pounds and can stand on his own. This picture book traces the colt's first two years, showing how he grows from those earliest moments.

The text is short and simple, with enough narrative momentum to be read aloud as a story, yet it remains nonfiction. Horse-loving readers will also find useful horse vocabulary and basic information on caring for horses.
