Jerry is a career swindler who passed his trade down to his son Kevin. Between the two of them they know how to steal identities, and they drift from one cheap motel to the next, always chasing a windfall that never seems to arrive.

Colette is a teenage runaway with her sights set on wealthy society. Quick and resourceful, she becomes Jerry's girlfriend and partner in crime. When Jerry is arrested, she recruits Kevin to play the decoy in her schemes. Kevin's growing appetite for elaborate cons, daring hoaxes and sharper forgeries pulls all three into violence.

When Jerry is released, the trio comes back together for one last job that mixes familiar tricks with new ones and promises to set them up for good. The question is whether they can keep working as a team, or whether they will turn on each other.
