About this book
Life as a hunter among werewolves means never quite belonging. The narrator is tolerated by the Pack but is not part of it, and is not its outright enemy either. Surrounded by creatures who are faster and stronger, the narrator must constantly fight to stay in one piece, since the wolves treat rough contests as sport and will snap bones in the name of "fun."
The hardest of them to deal with is Greyson, the alpha, a ruthless leader who keeps pushing the Pack's borders outward even though it already holds the largest territory in the region. Greyson has problems of his own, including a mate bond that is still incomplete, yet he seems to find the narrator's discomfort entertaining and goes out of his way to prod and provoke them at every chance.
Then feral wolves from neighboring packs begin attacking the people of Timber Ridge, the narrator's city. Werewolves do not lose control without a reason, so someone must be orchestrating the violence, and the Pack is the target. The narrator has misgivings about the path ahead but has only one hunter's skills to stop a feral outbreak. The question is whether Greyson and the narrator can set their hostility aside long enough to protect the Pack.
