I Can Help

Zahra never hesitates when Ms. Underwood looks for a volunteer to help Kyle. She enjoys his company, admiring how imaginative and giving he is, and he always has the best jokes at lunchtime. Trouble starts when her classmates begin mocking her for being his helper. Under that pressure, Zahra makes decisions she later comes to regret.

The story follows her as she reaches out to others, deals with peer pressure, and works out what she can learn from her mistakes. Its illustrations add emotional depth to the narrative. The book is meant to spark conversations with young readers about choosing kindness at school and in everyday life.
