Idolatry

Idolatry is set in Mumbai in the near future and offers an apocalyptic picture of everyday life there. It centers on a new technology called Shrine Tech, which lets anyone worship the god of their choice. The book looks at the danger of personal technology in a world of confused religious motives.

The story follows a disaffected young actor who is hired as a marketing rep by the company that owns Shrine Tech. The company is run by a man who calls himself Mister Happy Maker. The actor is soon pulled into a society changing in strange and frantic ways, where ordinary people, among them a building society secretary, an indie film-maker and an aged priest, find that living out their dreams turns into a nightmare.

The novel is published by Flame Tree Press, the imprint of Flame Tree Publishing for original full-length fiction.
