Imogen, Obviously
About This Book
Imogen Scott is a high school senior who takes pride in being a model straight ally. She never misses a Pride Alliance meeting, follows debates about queer media more closely than her own queer younger sister does, and counts two queer people among her best friends: Gretchen, another senior, who calls out Imogen's blind spots, and Lili, who has recently come out and is thriving among a new circle of queer friends at college. When Imogen finally visits Lili on campus, she is determined to be as supportive as a friend can be. Then Lili admits she has told everyone at college that she and Imogen used to date. None of them know Imogen is straight, including Lili's best friend, Tessa. Imogen goes along with the story, bending the truth for Lili's sake. But the more time she spends with chaotic, freckle-faced Tessa, the more Imogen starts to question whether she ever understood herself as well as she thought. The novel is by Becky Albertalli, who also wrote Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, the book behind the film Love, Simon.
