In Plain Sight

Three young girls have been raped and murdered in Mumbai, and months later the police still have no culprit. Out of patience, DCP Sawant brings in Police Inspector Waghmare, a man the city's force calls its 'investigation machine' and whom colleagues say can crack cases in his sleep.

But this case does not yield the way others have. Each promising lead ends in a dead end, and Waghmare begins to sense that the killer is not hiding from the investigation but following it, reading the detectives' moves in advance and enjoying the game. Then a fourth girl's body is found, and both Waghmare and Sawant start to question whether his famed skill is all it has been made out to be.

The story is told through Rohan, a rookie crime reporter who watches the hunt from close range. In Plain Sight is a police procedural set in the strange, unsettling world of crime and punishment that the Mumbai police inhabit every day.
