Incantation

Across a realm divided into five kingdoms, magic takes both benevolent and malicious forms. Of these kingdoms, Magique is the oldest and the most shrouded in mystery.

Long ago, the ruler of Magique became infatuated with a powerful sorceress, but her heart belonged to another. When she refused him, his fury sent his armies after her. She fought back, but she died in the battle. Amid the wreckage, the soldiers found only her staff and a baby girl with violet eyes. They carried both back to the king. Rather than a queen, he was handed a princess.

He chose to hide the child from the rest of the world and raise her as his own. She grows up unaware of her origins and believes she is the only person in the realm with magic. The king has made sure of that story, and he warns her that if she ever leaves, she will be hunted. This is her story.
