Independence Day

Each July 4 marks the nation's birthday, and this early reader explains the holiday to young learners in short, simple sentences. Bright photographs support the text, showing when the celebration takes place and some of the traditions people enjoy most.

Supporting features repeat the main ideas in the text, helping readers hold on to key points. A glossary built from photographs shows the meanings of words that may be new to them. The book is written for children who are working toward reading on their own, and its patriotic theme suits the holiday.
