Insatiable

Violet's life is not what she expected. She is stuck in a dead-end job, heartbroken, short of money and no longer speaking to her best friend. She wants more: better friends, better sex, a better job, and she wants it all now.

Then Lottie, who looks like the woman Violet hopes to become, invites her to join an exciting start-up, and Violet accepts. It soon becomes clear that Lottie and her husband Simon are offering more than a job, because they want Violet in their lives too. She is drawn in by their townhouse, their expensive candles and their Friday-night sex parties, and she finds it hard to pull away from Lottie, Simon or their circle of friends. Violet has to ask whether this is really the more she has been yearning for, and whether it can give her the satisfaction she craves.

Insatiable by Daisy Buchanan is about women and desire: lust, longing and the need to be loved. It also explores the difficulty of telling whether you are running toward your future or just away from your past. The tone is tender and sad, funny and hopeful.
