About this book
Interventional Pain is a review guide for the Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP) exam. It also works as a compact reference for doctors who practise interventional pain medicine. Through its educational focus, it aims to build consensus among experts on how well existing techniques work and where therapeutic performance can improve.
The book has four sections, covering the head and neck, the thoracic region, the lumbar region and the sacral and pelvic region. Each chapter sets out a safe, standardized approach to the interventional procedures for that area. To help both examiners and candidates prepare, every chapter includes the relevant C-arm images and lists the most common reasons a procedure is judged "unacceptable" or "potentially unsafe" in performance.
Unlike many earlier guides, it offers high-quality labeled fluoroscopic images and concentrates on the procedures currently examined for the FIPP, with all accepted approaches. It is written and edited by leading figures in pain medicine, and it supports study for the exam while presenting a consensus on how these procedures should be carried out and assessed.
