Jaded

Jade is a young lawyer who has become everything she wanted to be: a successful attorney, a dutiful daughter, a beloved girlfriend and a loyal friend. Even her name is a kind of adaptation. Jade is not her real name, but the one she uses at coffee shops, the way children of immigrants often do.

Then she wakes up the morning after a work gala, naked and alone, with no memory of how she got home. She has to work out what happened the night before, and how much she is prepared to tolerate in order to keep climbing the corporate ladder.

As she searches for answers, the life she built begins to fall apart. Her parents cannot understand what she is going through, her boyfriend feels betrayed, and her employer expects her to stay quiet. The woman who believed she was everything she wanted to be now feels like nothing at all.
