Jason

Courtney Davies is still grieving her best friend, and that loss has taught her to treat every day as though it could be her last. When Jason, a former soldier, settles in Cradle Mountain, Idaho, she is immediately drawn to him, but whenever she stands near him her thoughts scatter and she cannot speak clearly.

Jason has spent years in military service, trained at an elite institution, and contributed to advances in drug research. His captivity, however, reshaped him in lasting ways, both in body and in mind. He now leads Blue Halo Security with his team in town, and the friendly, lively owner of the local coffee shop, Courtney, has become someone he would like to have in his life. Her reaction to him, though, seems to unsettle her badly.

When Courtney receives an award that brings the press to her door, she hopes the attention will finally help her struggling shop. Instead, odd and increasingly dangerous events begin to happen, and the publicity seems to have pulled her into a harmful spotlight. The only person she can count on is Jason, the man who affects her most.
