Jelly

Being marooned on a jellyfish comes with surprising downsides. Nobody frets much about dying anymore, since that is almost a relief, and the fishy diet becomes so routine that it barely registers. Boredom gets a mention too, but the real hardship is having no room to slip away from the same faces day after day.

Martha has lived on the jellyfish's back for so long that she has lost track of time. Her companions are in the same position. None of them can say how they arrived, how long they have been aboard, or where the creature is headed. They only recall that something terrible happened before they ended up here, and there is no way off.

Now the crew has reached its limit. They intend to get off the jellyfish, even if the attempt costs them their lives, which, as they freely admit, is the most likely outcome.
