This college-level survey traces the story of the Jewish people across the centuries, paying attention to the faith itself as well as the religious, cultural, social and economic variety found among Jewish communities. The second edition adds recent scholarship and widens the lens beyond rabbis and leaders to include mothers, children, laborers, students, artists and political activists, whose experiences reshape how Jewish life is understood.

Alongside the text, the course package includes MySearchLab, a research and writing resource that offers access to academic journals. It is designed to help students work more deeply with twentieth-century history.
