Kill Promise

Jack Widow is watching for submarines near Kitsap Naval Base, just outside Seattle, when he runs into an old friend, a sailor, who hurries him off to a ceremony. The occasion is the presentation of the Navy Cross, a prestigious medal, to a woman who will be the first Native American recipient.

That woman is Lou Cosay, a decorated former sailor who now works as an NCIS agent and is known for being smart, tough, and dangerous. Admirals, journalists, politicians, Indigenous groups, and the Secretary of the Navy have all gathered to honor her, so her failure to appear alarms everyone present. Widow soon learns that she has vanished without a trace.

His search leads him to Sawyer Lake, North Dakota, a remote, off-grid community with dangerous secrets. The story turns on a promise, one that its characters feel bound to keep.
