King Dork

Tom Henderson is an ordinary, low-status student at an American high school, and his life shifts when he finds his late father's worn copy of Salinger's novel. Inside it, he uncovers a tangle of overlapping plots that seem to connect to his father's death. The leads range from strange deaths and forged identities to psychic powers, secret codes, medieval wars, religious relics, and a devil-shaped carving, all wrapped in rock and roll. Tom suspects the trail could also explain how to get the attention of girls who are mildly attractive, though a band may be part of that plan, if he can find a drummer who knows how to keep time.
