About this book
Cody Bonner has lived several lives already. She is an identical twin and the daughter of a major movie star. She was a teenage street kid in Los Angeles, a bank robber at nineteen and a prison inmate at twenty. After six years inside she is released and returns to L.A. with one purpose: to learn the truth about her sister Julie, who washed up on a Malibu beach a year earlier.
The twins' connection was so strong that Cody collapsed in the prison yard on the day Julie died. That bond now drives her to pursue justice at any cost, and the question is whether she is seeking justice or revenge. Using bootleg skills she picked up in prison, she begins peeling back the layers of the mystery.
Her search takes her behind the dazzle of the film business, into a world of high-powered agents, high-priced call girls and men with a taste for sexual violence. She focuses on her mother's powerful agent, Harry Groban, who has faced ugly accusations of abuse in the past. As she does, she is drawn back into the life she left as a teenager, with her mother's star power, former classmates who have become producers, glitzy parties and a handsome old love who knows all the players. She has to ask whether Groban is at the center of it or whether others had a hand in Julie's murder. Meanwhile, another ghost from her criminal past is stalking her, and it could put her back in prison for years.
