About this book
Adam Nevill's Last Days, which won the British Fantasy Award for Best Horror Novel of the Year, follows the unsettling trail of a documentary maker in the spirit of The Blair Witch Project. Kyle Freeman, a guerrilla filmmaker, is hired to make a documentary about the Temple of the Last Days, a cult that drew worldwide attention in 1975 when a massacre killed its notorious leader, Sister Katherine.
Kyle's assignment is to examine the supernatural rumors attached to a group remembered for paranoia, violence and occult practices. His filming takes him to the cult's first London temple, a deserted French farm, and a ruined copper mine in the Arizona desert, where the group met its bloody end. As he tracks down people connected to the case, some of whom have stayed silent for decades, strange occurrences begin to disrupt the production. Out-of-body episodes, night-time visits, the sudden deaths of interviewees and the discovery of disturbing objects in his room lead Kyle to wonder what the cult woke, and why it seems to take an interest in him.
