About this book
Frank Biondi led some of the most influential companies in film and television, serving as chief executive at HBO, Universal Studios, and Viacom. In the last years of his life, while battling stage-four cancer, he recorded the story of his career. He died of the disease in 2019.
His daughter, Jane Biondi Munna, gathered those recordings and shaped them into this book. Alongside his own voice, it includes recollections from people who worked in the media industry with him, among them Peter Chernin, Tom Freston, Alan Horn, Sherry Lansing, and Alan Schwartz.
The book looks at how Biondi conducted business without giving up decency or hard work. It describes how he kept strong working relationships while negotiating difficult deals, earned respect alongside large financial gains, and held to his own character in an industry full of strong personalities.
Readers interested in business leadership and management style will find his example useful for the challenges and opportunities of their own working lives.
