About this book
Library 2035: Imagining the Next Generation of Libraries follows Joseph Janes's Library 2020: Today's Leading Visionaries Describe Tomorrow's Library. It revisits that earlier conversation and widens it, asking how libraries will keep changing their information services to serve their communities well.
The book looks back at what libraries have learned over the past decade and projects forward to the opportunities, strengths and challenges ahead. Contributors including R. David Lankes, Kelvin Watson, Annie Norman, Miguel Figueroa and Nicole Cooke, along with 25 other library leaders, were each asked to describe the library of 2035 in whatever way they chose. Their answers are meant to inspire, provoke and challenge readers, and to broaden how we think about the role and importance of libraries.
It is aimed mainly at library leaders, library and information science students, and faculty, who will find it useful as the field considers what the future holds for libraries and the profession.
