Light for All

Newbery Honoree Margarita Engle and award-winning illustrator Raúl Colón join forces on this picture book about the people who have come to America over the generations. Some arrived to reunite with family, others to begin new lives together, and each brought hope, ambition, and resolve to a country they would come to call home. Across the years, their work has given the nation a fabric that is varied, lively, and open to newcomers.

The book honors the many thousands of immigrants who helped build the country and speaks to the value of acceptance and of offering light to everyone. Its message is meant to feel current and to reach young readers directly.
