About this book
Gilbert Petén, also known as Little Eagle, serves as secretary and travel companion to Norval Morrisseau, a well-known artist of Canadian and Ojibwe heritage. Their journeys through western Canada set Petén on an inner quest of spiritual awakening. Along the way he falls into alcohol and drug dependence, becomes entangled in art forgery, and is pressured by the Canadian mob.
Alongside the artist, Petén comes under the guidance of Many Tongues, a Native American mystic and shaman, and is drawn into the ancient spiritual practices of the Ojibwe. The book has a mystical tone and sets these teachings against the ordinary pressures of daily life.
