Lost and found

A three-year-old named Belle is sent onto the wrong train by her stepbrother, and her adoptive mother, Martha Drusso, loses her. Belle's childhood passes through orphanages and foster homes, with no memory of who she was before. A wealthy adoptive family eventually takes her in, and her life opens onto Hollywood, a glamorous world she did not expect. Belle keeps searching for some clue to her hidden origins, even though she does not know what she is looking for.

Meanwhile, Martha refuses to give up. For three decades she keeps looking for the daughter she lost, and across those years the two of them drift further and further apart.
