About this book
Bette and Nina Crowdie have never been close. They are very different people, there is a ten-year gap between them, and Bette has rarely come home since leaving for university at eighteen. Their family farm sits in a small community on the Scottish coast. When their father dies, he surprises them both by dividing the farm equally between his daughters.
Nina is angry and frightened by the news. She has worked on the farm for the past five years, and it is the only stable home her young son Barnaby has known. She is sure that Bette, who never wanted any part of the family business, will sell up at the first opportunity.
Then the sisters learn that their father hid a huge debt from them both. Bette reluctantly agrees to help, which means the two must find a way of working together, and Bette has to face the real reason she left home all those years ago. An ancient orchard turns up on the family's land, and it may hold the key to saving the farm and mending the sisters' relationship.
Lost Orchard is a warm, uplifting story about family, belonging and secrets from the past, with a romantic thread running through it. It comes from the author of The Lighthouse Bookshop and The Forgotten Garden.
