Lost Property

Dot Watson is weighed down by guilt and grief, and she has withdrawn from the world into a quiet job at the London Transport lost property office. Her days are spent cataloguing the forgotten belongings that passengers leave behind. The work is hardly thrilling, but its solitude suits her.

Her routine is disrupted when Mr Appleby, an elderly man, comes in looking for his late wife's purse. Dot feels an immediate bond with him and resolves to help. That decision sends her on an unexpected journey that may lead her to rebuild her life and discover where she belongs.

The novel is a tender story about hope, forgiveness and kindness. It also reminds readers that the people we love deserve as much care as the everyday things we misplace, such as bags and umbrellas.
