Lou

Lou is a fire hydrant on a city block, and his everyday work is serving as a rest stop for dogs on their walks. Useful as that is, he suspects he was made for something more, though he has no idea yet what that something is.

When a fire breaks out in a nearby apartment building, Lou gets the chance to find out what he is capable of. Breanna Carzoo makes her debut with this picture book, which follows Lou as he sets out to understand himself.

The story is funny and warm, and it carries a clear message: no one, including you, should talk you out of sharing what you have to offer the world. Young readers will likely enjoy following Lou's search for his purpose, and many will come away seeing fire hydrants in a new light.
