MacGregor Ever After

This collection brings together two MacGregor stories by Nora Roberts, an author known for her many romance novels. Both tales follow people who have stopped expecting much from love.

In the first story, Darcy Wallace arrives in Las Vegas with only a few dollars and a restless wish to take a risk. Her luck at a hotel casino turns into a jackpot. When Robert MacGregor Blade, the casino's manager, notices how jittery she is, he offers a friendly hand. Yet Darcy unsettles him in ways he didn't plan for, and his good intentions begin to waver. Winning her heart would be a gamble, but possibly the most rewarding one of his life.

In the second story, Preston McQuinn, a moody writer, has set up his new apartment to match his solitary routine: quiet, orderly, and sparsely furnished with company. Then Cybil Campbell, an upbeat and lively neighbor, moves in and disrupts his gloom. He cannot shake a reluctant curiosity about her. Years earlier he had firmly shut the door on love, so the question becomes why he suddenly wants to let someone back in.
