About this book
This account follows Madge Oberholtzer, a young woman from Irvington, whose story brought about the downfall of D.C. Stephenson and the Ku Klux Klan.
Newspaperman Harold C. Feightner wrote about her case and argued that the consequences of her death, though she was not a public figure, spread far beyond her own life. Her death marked the start of the Klan's decline in Indiana. It led to the indictment of Governor Ed Jackson, and to the indictment and conviction of Indianapolis Mayor Ed L. Duvall and other city officials. It also reshaped the administration of the state capital and came close to ruining a political party.
