Magic Slays

Kate Daniels has walked away from the Order of Knights of Merciful Aid, but trouble has not walked away from her. What she lacks is paying work. Her new business is struggling, partly because the Order is blackening her reputation around Atlanta, and partly because plenty of would-be clients would rather not risk the displeasure of the Beast Lord, who happens to be her mate. A call from the city's most prominent Master of the Dead changes that. A vampire is loose, and Kate needs the money, so she takes the job without hesitation. The case does not stay small for long, though. The rogue vampire turns out to be one piece of a larger pattern, and something far more dangerous is moving through a city already worn down by conflict. Kate has to work out what is behind it before the damage spreads, because the people she cares about are in the line of fire along with Atlanta itself. This is an installment in the Kate Daniels urban fantasy series, so it is best enjoyed by readers who have followed her story from the start.
