Mario Bava

This academic volume looks at the career of Mario Bava, the Italian filmmaker known mainly for his horror pictures. It considers how his work complicates ideas of authorship and how his films operate within genre conventions, with particular attention to his visual approach. The book also follows how critics and audiences have responded to his films over the years and how he came to be followed by a devoted cinephile audience.
