About this book
Eva could find her way to Pim's farm in Bovenmeer blindfolded, even though she has not been back there in many years. She spent her childhood in that village among rapeseed fields and dairy farms, and it is also where the grief that binds the group together began.
Eva was born in 1988, one of three children in a small town in Flanders. She grew up alongside two boys, Laurens and Pim, and found an escape from her emotionally cold home life in the friendship of the two of them. As adolescence arrived, the three became aware of their own sexuality, and their new desires led the children into a game with serious, violent consequences for all of them.
Thirteen years after the summer she has tried so hard to forget, Eva returns to the village. That summer everything came apart. This time she is prepared: a large block of ice sits in the boot of her car, and she intends to even the score.
