Metaheuristics for Combinatorial Optimization

Four competing approaches to the cost-balanced traveling salesman problem are gathered in this volume, each a newly devised metaheuristic built for that challenge. The problem was the subject of a contest at the 2018 Metaheuristics Summer School (MESS), and the four highest-placing methods from that competition are presented in full.

Before those chapters, the book gives a short overview of the traveling salesman problem and the many variants that have grown out of it, so readers can see where the cost-balanced version fits.

The book is written for researchers working in metaheuristics and combinatorial optimization. Its core subjects are metaheuristics, complex problem solving, combinatorial optimization and the traveling salesman problem.
