Midnight Shadows

Sheikh Junayd Saif-Ad-Din carries himself with a polished, regal manner among the wealthy, yet he trained as a doctor to serve his people. His ancestry, however, runs back to the desert and a lineage of fighters. That carefully kept composure cracks at a society gathering, when he witnesses an assault and then meets a mysterious figure who seems to step out of the darkness.

Midnight Rain was raised on the streets and earns her living by protecting others. In an era when going unnoticed is extremely difficult, she drifts through high society like a ghost. She follows two personal rules: she works only after dark, and she does what it takes to stay alive. Junayd, however, is convinced she is his Chosen, the woman he is fated to love, and he plans to use every resource at his disposal to track her down.

The story moves from the dark streets of New York City to Jawahir, a desert kingdom of great beauty, and danger follows both of them. Two modern warriors, one who lives in shadow and one who belongs in the desert sun, must find a way to stop a deranged man determined to kill them.

S. E. Smith, a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, brings her trademark humor and surprising turns to this new story, which blends adventure with romance. The author has sold more than two million books.
