Minecraft: The Mountain

A lone explorer has left the safety of the home island behind and is now crossing an enormous, frozen tundra. Doubts creep in with every step. Was leaving a mistake? Is anyone or anything out here? Would turning back be wiser? There is little time to decide, because night is coming and the monsters of this blocky world are coming with it.

Zombies groan out of the dark and wolves snarl at the edge of sight, and they are closing in fast. With no shelter in reach, the explorer scrambles up a mountainside and ends up cornered. Then a stranger appears and drives off the entire horde alone. She is Summer, another castaway, who has learned to survive in these icy wastes better than anyone.

Finding another person in such a strange place is a relief, and Summer offers refuge in the fortress she has built into the mountain. But the safety may not last. Both of them have spent so long surviving on their own that working side by side does not come naturally.

Minecraft: The Mountain is the sequel to Max Brooks's Minecraft: The Island. It is a survival adventure about whether two wary loners can learn to rely on each other, which may be the only way either of them gets home.
