About this book
Red, Leo, Rose and Naomi are sixteen-year-old students at Thames Comprehensive who don't quite fit in. Music gives them a place to belong, and their band, Mirror, Mirror, is where they feel at home. School is hard enough, but each of them also carries heavy stuff at home. Red's mother drinks, and her father is rarely there. Leo's older brother is locked up. Rose has been trying to drown out the aftermath of a violent attack with sex and alcohol. Naomi, who performs as a punk rock princess, is the only one who feels free to be herself.
Then Naomi disappears without explanation and is discovered unconscious. Her bandmates are rattled and unsure what happened. Was it an accident, or did someone set out to hurt her? If she was in danger, why didn't she reach out to them? And how well did any of them really know her? As they look into her life, Red, Leo and Rose are forced to face their own hidden fears and secrets, and to notice the gap between what they feel inside and what they let others see.
Cara Delevingne, the supermodel, actress and social media personality, wrote this novel about identity, sexuality, gender, emotional pain, the pressures of social media, and how appearances can mislead. It is a suspenseful coming-of-age story for teen readers who enjoy gritty, fast-moving mysteries with honest, direct narration about tough subjects.
