Mirrorland

Cat has built a life in Los Angeles, a long way from the imposing gothic house at 36 Westeryk Road in Edinburgh, where she grew up with her twin, El. The two have been estranged, and Cat rarely thinks about the place or about El, who now lives there with her husband, Ross, a man both sisters love. As children, the twins invented a shadowy imaginary world called Mirrorland, hidden beneath the pantry stairs and populated by pirates, witches and clowns.

When El vanishes after taking her sailboat out, Cat is pulled back to Westeryk Road, a house that has hardly changed in twenty years. Its many dark corners hold buried secrets and frightening echoes of the past. Someone, possibly El, has left clues in nearly every room, forming a treasure hunt that leads straight back to Mirrorland, where Cat believes the truth is waiting.

The novel is a psychological thriller about love and betrayal, redemption and revenge. It is a debut that explores the power of imagination and what freedom can cost.
