Modernized Delayed Benoni

This repertoire book builds its case for the Delayed Benoni on patience. Playing Black, the reader holds off on capturing with e6xd5 and waits for the right moment, when White has committed to a setup that becomes awkward once the exchange happens. The approach also steers clear of sharp, heavily analysed lines such as the Flick-Knife, also known as the Taimanov, and setups that let White place the bishop on the strong f4 square.

Many of the variations covered here are also suitable for King's Indian players, whether as their main weapon or as a secondary option. The author recounts that his own interest in the Delayed Benoni began when he was a King's Indian player.
