About this book
Quinn MacKenna, once a black magic arms dealer and now a demigoddess, has been away from the mortal world for a year and a half without a word to anyone. When she returns to Boston, she finds the city in chaos. Her friends have scattered into hiding, gone missing, or been locked away, and her favorite bartender is among the captives. Penniless and homeless, she must work out what happened while she was gone.
Someone has seized power from the ruling forces and unleashed a wild, dangerous creature on the city. Its target is every person Quinn cares about. The only way to stop it may be for her to surrender herself before the next full moon, but that choice would mean abandoning Boston to others. Quinn leaves the city in capable hands and turns to a pack of werewolves from Missouri, whose story makes her doubt a white witch she had trusted.
Quinn must balance the safety of her city against her own, all while the deadline closes in. She has to draw on a power she barely understands, reunite with unusual allies, lead a hunt for witches, and prevent a massacre. Failing could leave her owing a goddess a debt that would take an eternity to repay.
This is an urban fantasy with a sharp, irreverent voice, blending witches, werewolves, and divine politics. Immortality, it turns out, is less glamorous than Quinn expected, and being a deity brings demands she never agreed to, including wearing a dress.
