Ms. Della
About This Book
Meet Della Sordido, a thirty-five-year-old Black woman living alone in New York City. She has no parents to guide her, no relatives, and no close friends. Instead of waiting for opportunity, she has chosen a method of her own: using her beauty and her sexuality to obtain anything she judges worth having. Her efforts have paid off in visible ways. She owns a condo in an upscale part of the city, drives a new Jaguar, and wears fine clothing and jewelry. Still, material comfort is not what she wants most. She longs for respect and a prominent place in society, and her dream is to become First Lady of a large church. Manipulation and sex games are central to her approach. The story asks whether a beautiful face and body can always get a person what they want, or whether they sometimes fall short.
