Multilinear algebra

Many branches of mathematics rely on multilinear algebra, yet students often pick it up piecemeal without a clear framework. This text offers a coherent, step-by-step treatment aimed at graduate students. It covers tensor algebra, exterior algebra, Grassmann algebra, Hopf algebras and coalgebras, building each topic from the ground up.

Each chapter closes with a section titled 'Comments and Exercises.' Here the author summarises the material and discusses its ideas, while the exercises let readers check their grasp of the chapter and explore additional results. Full solutions appear for the exercises that are especially significant or that are needed later in the text.

The book grew out of advanced lectures the author delivered at the University of Sheffield.
