New Economic Engine

This work questions the assumptions of mainstream Western economics and market theory, arguing that they cannot fully account for the course of economic change. Drawing on the economic perspective, it examines the achievements of China's reform and opening up over roughly forty years and uses them as the basis for a new economic system and a new theory of markets.

The author treats China's reform process and its ongoing innovations as a broad body of evidence for this theory. The research is intended to add to global economic thought and to offer insights that can inform development and growth in other countries.
