New Frontiers in Mining Complex Patterns

This collection gathers the papers presented at the inaugural NFMCP 2012 workshop, a meeting on new directions in mining complex patterns. The event ran alongside the ECML/PKDD 2012 conference in Bristol, United Kingdom, in September 2012. Fifteen full papers were chosen from a large pool of submissions and revised after peer review.

The contributions fall into four groups: mining relational datasets that contain rich, linked records; complex patterns drawn from assorted data types; patterns in trajectory and sequence data; and patterns in graphs and networks. Together they show how data mining techniques are being extended to structures more complicated than traditional tables.
