Night Varmints

Kitty was born aboard a boat called Betty, and his years at sea brought him many adventures. Now he has come ashore to Magnolia Grove Estate, where he loves to roam the grounds after dark. His quiet nights are disturbed when nightlights and suspicious goings-on appear on the Severn River. Kitty worries for the river, for his many animal friends, and for his family, and the trouble soon grows worse.

Kitty and his companions must stop a wicked plot to protect the Mobjack and Chesapeake Bays, since wildlife and people both depend on clean water. Rod, who has come home from the U.S. Naval Academy, joins the investigation, and the fierce MadmanMax remains at Kitty's side. The story introduces Mr. and Mrs. Great Horned Owl, the Bucks, Mr. Osprey, the Terrapins, and many other creatures. A hidden magic helps animals and humans set aside their differences, and former enemies find themselves working together to rescue one another.
