Nightshade

Calla Tor has been raised to lead. As the alpha female of a pack of shape-shifting wolves, she has a role laid out for her from birth: to marry Ren Laroche, the pack's alpha male, and stand beside him as the pack's ruler. Together they would watch over sacred sites on behalf of the Keepers, a group whose commands the pack has always obeyed.

Then Calla rescues a human boy, and nothing about her life feels settled anymore. Her feelings for him make her doubt the future she was promised, the purpose she was given, and the Keepers' orders. As the pack splits over what she has done, she faces a choice that cannot be put off.

Nightshade is the first book in a supernatural romance series by Andrea Robertson, who previously wrote as Andrea Cremer. It is a dark, close-up story about power, destiny and identity, and it asks whether a love the pack forbids is worth risking everything, even Calla's own life.
