Nishant

Nishant is a work by the noted Indian playwright Vijay Tendulkar, and it is best known through the film made from it. That film won a National Award, taking the prize for Best Feature Film in Hindi, which gave the material a wide audience well beyond the stage.

The story is described as drawing on true events and centring on a well-known figure. The book has been translated into many languages, and it is a good choice for readers who want to see how one of Indian theatre's major voices shaped a story that later became an award-winning piece of cinema.
