No regrets

Caroline Torrington considers herself a poor match for the fashionable beauties around her. She is heavyset and wears spectacles, and since her father, a clergyman, died, she and her sisters have been living on very little.

Lucas, Lord Foxhaven, has earned a name as a wild rake, and he is once more at odds with his father. The elder Lord Foxhaven will release the fortune Lucas's grandmother left him only if he marries Caroline. The two strike a practical bargain and travel to London for the season.

Caroline does not realize that her fuller figure is unsettling Lucas. Each time he pulls away, she assumes he finds her body repellent. As their attraction grows amid this misunderstanding, Caroline is drawn into a scandal and kidnapped, and Lucas must rescue her. During a perilous escape, the pair discover their love for each other.
