Not the Plan

Isadora Maris has spent almost ten years in state politics and is very good at her job. As chief of staff, she handles aggressive lobbyists and obstructive senators with diplomacy and firm principles. Her plan is precise: help her boss win a campaign for U.S. representative, then move to Washington, D.C. as a congressional aide, where she believes she can make a real difference.

Then she meets Karim Sarda. He is gorgeous, brilliant, and seems to share many of her ideals. The problem is that he works for the person she considers the most detestable figure in the California senate, and their bosses are fierce political rivals. Isadora has been betrayed before and prefers to keep people at a distance, so she declares Karim off-limits, however flustered she feels whenever he walks into the room.

Karim understands that kind of guardedness. He is still recovering from a failed marriage and wants a fresh start, and he is drawn to Isadora's commanding presence while sensing something fragile beneath her strength. When the two give in to their chemistry, desire grows into something real. But if Karim's boss takes control of the California senate, everything Isadora has worked for could fall apart. Can their love survive workplace politics?
